Fence post ½ cut, robinia, Ø10/12 cm x L: 200 cm

101-567
Used as e.g. fence post. Robinia posts have a very high tensile strength and hardness.

Beskrivelse

Robinia (Robinia pseudoacacia) has a long and interesting history and is today
one of the principal tree species in Central and Eastern European forests,
from where the posts are imported.

Robinia posts have a very high natural resistance to rot and fungal decay,
making impregnation unnecessary.
Tests have shown a durability of 30–40 years in direct contact with soil.

The durability of Robinia fence posts is well documented in literature
and typically ranges from 15–20 years, with one documented example in Germany
where a post has remained in use for as long as 75 years.

The resistance to fungal decay is due to naturally occurring toxic substances
in the wood. As the highest concentration is found in the bark,
all posts are supplied debarked.
The wood itself is non-hazardous to humans and is used for many applications
beyond fencing.

The posts are supplied with a bevelled top and a pointed bottom.

USE:
Used as fence posts, Robinia posts offer exceptional breaking strength
and hardness. Halved or quartered posts are therefore often sufficient.

Due to the extreme hardness of the wood, it may be difficult to hammer
nails or staples into the posts, and pre-drilling may be necessary.
